What is Hypnosis?
The word Hypnosis is derived from the Greek god of sleep, Hypnos. Although hypnosis is not technically the sleep state, it has similar characteristics. When used in the therapeutic setting, hypnotherapy is simply a natural form of deep relaxation and selective awareness focusing. Hypnotherapy works mainly in the limbic cortex of the brain, which is the center of our emotional conditioning and responses.
All Hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis
It is a common misconception that hypnosis means "going out" and not remembering anything when you "wake up." This may be true of Stage Hypnosis, which is for entertainment purposes, and not typically therapeutic, although some of the same techniques are used in therapeutic hypnosis.
In Healthy Hypnosis, your hypnotherapist is merely a "tour guide" in your journey to wellness. You are the one in control, focusing your healing journey where you want it to go. You are completely aware and in control at all times during your experience. Any suggestion your therapist gives you can easily be accepted or rejected, and you can remember everything from your session you want to.
If you can fall asleep, you can easily and naturally enter into an enjoyable, relaxed state of "hypnosis."
What is it Like to Be Hypnotized?
A hypnotic state of awareness is a very common occurrence that we all experience at various times in our waking hours: day-dreaming, driving past our exit on the freeway, watching a movie or television, listening to music. These are times when you were on "auto-pilot," completely aware of your surroundings, yet your mind was focused entirely somewhere else.
Many people feel and experience being hypnotized as though they are similarly in two places at the same time: aware of their surroundings, yet focused on their inner experience. This inner experience can be quite emotoinal as you connect with your inner-self. The more emotional your connection, the more effective your treatment outcome will be.
Some of the physiological responses that occur in the hypnotic state are:
*Deep relaxation: lowered pulse, heartbeat and breathing.
*Brain wave shifting from Beta to Alpha, and occasionally Theta.
*Tears from a joyous, emotional state of self-connection and emotional release.
From this state, you can change anything!

Healthy Hypnosis includes the truly amazing techniques of Transformational HypnoTherapy, which is an interactive, client-centered and client-directed form of therapy which addresses the underlying, unmet needs that lie at the heart of any issue. The main purpose of the Transformational process is to bring to conscious awareness unconscious information (experience and decisions) you made about yourself, your environment and world that changed who you are, but which you may not have any memory of. This process allows you to correct core beliefs that no longer serve you, cause harmful coping behaviors and stress in your life.
Learn New Coping Skills. By mastering the self-hypnosis skills you will learn in each session, you will easily overcome any obstable to reach and maintain any goal feeling happier, more in control, and with far less stress.
Support. Your sessions are recorded, and you will recieve a cassette tape of your session so you have ongoing support wherever you need it. It is recommended that you listen to your recording every day for 30 days when you go to bed, or whenever you have time to close your eyes and relax. After enjoying it this way for a few days, you may also find it helpful to listen to it in a fully awake state of mind a couple times a week so that you can program yourself at both the inner and outer levels of mind, making it easier for you to make the changes you wish more effectively and effortlessly.
Does Insurance Cover Hypnotherapy?
I am not a Psychiatrist (MD), so therefor cannot diagnose and prescribe Hypnotherapy for insurance coverage. With a prescription from an MD, your insurance may cover Hypnotherapy for the following limited diagnoses that Healthy Hypnosis can work with your MD in treating:
*Phobia
*Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders
*Psychogenic Pain
*Psychogenic Amnesia
*Psychogenic Fuge
*Multiple Personality
*Dissociative Disorder or Reaction
Your Hypnotherapy services will be denied coverage if your primary care physician (MD) records do not verify services fall within the diagnostic guidlines. Even if the guidlines are met, billing your insurance does not guarantee coverage. Therefore, we recommend you pay for your Hypnotherapy services, and submit your reciepts to your health insurance for reimbursement for your out-of-pocket expenses.
